Kurage Crisis

False Flags and Lucky Shots / ISS vs Vanilla PanO

Yu Jing
VS PanOceania
Dr. Nik

Wonderful victory in the last days of Kurage!

Apologies for the improper opponent for that mission, it was a tournament game and there were no Nomad players to challenge, unfortunately.

With most of Yu Jing forces on New Cimmeria being engaged in daily battles in the south, with the home base under siege from Japanese and Panocenian raiding parties, a number of Secret Service commando groups were dispatched all around the island, seeking to raise hell elsewhere. One of them was Jade-9, the ruthless kill team under the command of Hsien warrior Gong Chao, a fan of pincer strategy – raining fire at the enemy from the smoke and punching them in the face with fast attack at the same time.

Nomads were far from Yu Jing allies in the Kurage Crisis and elsewhere – and yet, spoiling PanO day took priority before any squabbles about informational freedom weapons contraband. Reports of clanking blue suits armed to their teeth stalking around communication arrays at Johnny-5 base were music to the ears of Agent Chao. What a wonderful opportunity to score some choice cuts of Swiss Guards and expose another cowardly incursion of the so-called «Hyperpower».

Prepairing for either TO-heavies enemy formation or TAGs, Agent Chao enlisted an assault hacker operative who could’ve helped with delivering a surprise attack to any robotic trooper that PanO prides itself on. A lot was also entrusted in a swift Su-Jian unit, the murder machine operated by a cadet somewhere back at Zhan Huo drone control center.

The trap was set and the prey followed, with Panocenian forces rushing to get rid of numerous Yu Jing signals that appeared on their radars.

Hospitalier Datatracker
Lonely Auxilia

The low number of enemy units alerted the Imperial Service team – only the Knight Hospitalier Doctor and a glimmer of a TO silhouette were as of any interest among Fusiliers, two Auxilias and a Machinist.

Being wary of a big threat, ISS deployed very defensively, without leaving any pieces in the view of the enemy. Kanren hacker disguised herself as a trio of Celestial guards behind a wall, Hsien took his place on a roof, ready to stand up and hit the targets when the time comes, with a Kuang Shi team led by a Celestial Guard beside, to provide smoke for him. Kuang Shi without a handler were scattered on the other flank to slowly advance on the enemy positions. Bots took place in the center of the DZ, to look at the both entrances.

Board state after Turn 1, so ignore the markers ;)

At last, PanO deployed an Aquilla Guard, a true nemesis to Hsien, to be the spearhead of the hyperpower offence. In response, a Su Jian in the battle form took its position to meet him on the other side of the field, with a panzerfaust ready and a Datapack bolted on his belly.

Aquila took the bait and advanced, sliding into a building and then shooting through the exit. Su Jian proved its worth and directly hit him with a panzerfaust missile – unfortunately, sturdy Panoceanian armor withstood the shot. Taking a breath, Aquila hit again – now, Su Jian missed with its last shot and took a hit, after which an operator decided to take better cover and hide from machinegun fire.
After Su Jian rolled back, Aquila took his chance and shot at a TR bot and then a Sensor bot, knocking both out.

Without any worthy targets to shoot at anymore, Aquila took a break and let his knightly comrade to advance – Hospitalier doctor jumped down and went towards the antenna on the right, trying to secure it in a minute.

Aquilla ready to take on the enemy... or not
Offline for the moment

Round 1 Turn 2 - ISS

With Yu Jing taking back the initiative, the tide was ready to turn. Sure, one of the advancing Kuang Shi got shot down by the Hospitalier, but ruthless operatives of ISS never care about such petty losses. Su Jian got activated and took a few steps to get a look at Aquila – this time, a short burst from a Spitfire was enough to eliminate the armored troop.

A Kuang Shi was sent ahead on the right – to knife down the Aquila and get into the building to meet the coming Auxilia, if he decides to do a flamethrower rush.

Su Jian operator was ordered to play it safe – reload the Panzerfaust at the baggage bot and wait for Sophotect to repair it.

The Aleph’s greatest gift to Secret Service was busy with the repairs already – she got the TR bot and the Yaokong Sensor bot up and ready, and then patched up the Su Jian to the proper fighting condition.

The repaired sensor bot quickly secured the home base antenna to get the data uplink going, and got its combi rifle ready to meet the coming danger, putting itself into suppression state.

Meanwhile, Hsien was getting tired of inaction - Agent Chao really wanted to get rid of the nasty silhouette across the field, so he ordered a Celestial Guar to set up a smoke cover. Hsien got up and tried to focus on the menacing figure, but even the multispectral visor could not help him this time. Cursing the PanO technology, he got back into the cover, so that the enemy won’t pick him out after the smoke dissipates.

Only 1 dead panoceanian, but an antenna under ISS control to PanO zero! 2-0!

Round 2 Turn 3 - PanO

Hospitalier Knight did not try his luck at shooting much. He took out the TR bot from a relative safety, ran back to the antenna and got ready to secure it… if he’d manage to stay alive.

Proper assault duties were relegated to the hidden Croc Man scout that was deployed on the Hsien flank. He led the way for the Fusiliers and in a few moments got to the ISS positions. He revealed himself and shot at a Kuang Shi that was enlisted in a fireteam – ending his misery. Then, he tried to get rid of a Sensor bot that was attached to the antenna – but the return fire was so intensive that even his TO camouflage could not save him from getting a bullet. Bad day for Panoceania.

Croc Man!

Kuang Shi that was ordered to stay in a building on the right marched out into the fire from the Auxilia. The taken shot only enraged the prisoner more – voices in his head alerted him that the Fusilier hiding in a house near him was a possible lieutenant, so he ran ahead with a chain rifle ready. The Fusilier dodged in fear, Hospitalier and Auxilia shot at the invader, missing, while the Kuang Shi took out a pistol and tried to kill the enemy through the window. Another round – and the bullet only grazed the scared soldier; this time, the Kuang Shi was put to final rest.

Hospitalier was too much of a pain in the ass to leave alive, so Su Jian got out of its lair and tore the knight to shreds with Spitfire.

Hsien took another chance at hunting the TO figure from the smoke cover – and bingo! – he discovered the Swiss Guard with a Missile Launcher. A formidable enemy and a near certain death to the Su Jian if it got a little bit more careless. Happy from finding a worthy opponent at last, Hsien opened fire and managed to wound the Swiss Guard, forcing him to go prone. Hsien kept his cool and got back into cover, knowing that some danger was still in the air.

With Swiss Guard down for a moment, Su Jian transformed into a tiger form and run up on a building, so that the enemy Antenna was in its reach for the next opportunity. Unfortunately, that maneuver triggered the Hexa sniper that awaited for tasty targets – thankfully, Su Jian avoided getting shot and took a good cover on the roof, safe from both Swiss Guard and the Hexa.

The transmission signal was getting more clear – ISS still controlled the antenna with the Sensor bot and the complete victory was almost in the bag. 4-0

Hexa makes her debut
FO Sensor Bot, MVP!

Unable to hit anything with a Missile launcher and angry from an HMG shot that took a sizeable piece from the state-of-the-art suit, Swiss Guard decided that it was time for a blunt approach. He ran to the center and climbed the ladder of the big warehouse, where the Su Jian tried to hide. He took out his light shotgun and made a few shots at the cat robot, but the Chinese armor withstood all shots, making even that last PanO charge a complete dud.

One angry swissman

There was not much to do for ISS troops – just a bit of house cleaning and the final rush for the objectives. Hsien effortlessly eliminated the Hexa sniper, clearing the way for Su Jian.

Robocat wasted no time and springed full speed from the roof, evading the parting shot from the Swiss Guard. On its way to the antenna, it got rid of a lonely Fusilier in the field and hit the touchdown in seconds, plugging the Datapack into an antenna.

Meanwhile, with the clear field, the Sophotect had one final opportunity to do some extra mission objectives. She glided to the center, placed the D-Charge on a container full of inactive Nomad remotes and blew it up (what a wonderful opportunity to blame PanO! Especially with the wounded Swiss Guard still alive). With her final act, she secured the central antenna, making the signal clear as the Ariadna skies.

10-0! Complete victory! No, wait…

Goddammit Su Jian

Young Su Jian operator Ten Li was furious – according to the strict operational rules, only specialists could effectively do the datatracker duties at this location, despite the additional privileges entrusted to them in other missions of the Kurage Campaign (like her previous feats in Duban). As such, her rush to the PanO antenna was useless! The datapack locked itself, requiring the sophotect ID. Oh well, at least the mission turned out to be a stunning success anyway.
